Manners are efficient.

Did you say please ?

If your message sounds like an order, it probably fucking is.

That’s how goodwill disappears you knob.

Two messages. One makes you sound like an idiot.

Same ask. One sounds like pressure. The other sounds like respect.

Without please

“Send this now.”

With please

“Could you send this when you have a minute, please?”

👀 You somehow spent more time writing this than adding one polite fucking word.

This lands the same with friends, family, colleagues, and complete strangers.

Language has shifted.

We use “could you” and “would you” a lot now.

It works. Often ambiguous.

Please is different. Still the gold standard.

Shorter. Clearer. Human.

How to sound sharp, not like a prick

  • Start with context Orders don’t need context. Requests do.
  • Use “please” once Once is enough. Zero sounds cold. Five sounds unhinged.
  • Close with thanks When someone helps. This isn’t hard.

This isn’t about being fake nice. It’s about not sounding like an arse.

We’re using AI to move faster than ever. Tone still matters, no matter how clever you think you are.

(Yes, even if it costs a token. Don’t be tight.)
